PURE Taipei Through My Lens-Day 7: Let’s Go Shopping!

Nan-Men Market

Weekends in Taipei, mean the traditional markets are OPEN! We visited the Nan-Men Market at Roosevelt Road and Nan Hai Road to see what’s to EAT and the Jianguo Holiday Flower Market located under the overpass of Jianguo Road to DROOL over the bonsai, orchids, cut flowers and tropical plants. Since the U.S. customs would frown upon me bringing any of the fresh produce or live plants home with me, I was on a shopping spree by camera only. Let’s go shopping!!!
Nan-Men Market was overflowing with artistically displayed fresh produce, bulk grains, raw nuts seeds and legumes.  We had the opportunity to see some of the new and interesting food that we have been eating over the past few days in whole food form.

Jianguo Holiday Flower Market

Walking into the Jianguo Holiday Flower Market is like stepping into a dream. The misters that hang from the ceiling to cool the space and give the plants moisture, give everything an ethereal quality. Through the mist there are stalls upon stalls of all things green and lovely like ferns wrapped in moss, 4′ tall Bonsai, orchids galore, huge tropical plants, tiny water plants, lotus, freshly cut lilies, hand-made containers, gardening tools and vases too.

The options are endless and the prices are very reasonable. If I lived in Taipei, I’d visit each of these markets every weekend to stock our kitchen and to decorate our home and garden. Wouldn’t you?
