Call A Designer First & Save Money Later

There is no way to foresee the future and circumvent every single interior design installation challenge. However, experience, proper communication and detailed project management eliminate the majority of them. This ensures that the process is more enjoyable for the client and this saves money in the long-run by avoiding costly mistakes.
I was inspired to write today after my cell phone vibrated off of my lap while I was getting my teeth cleaned. I received six text messages, in-a-row, from the same person. I was not consulted on this project until today. Hopefully the following story inspires you to call a qualified designer first when considering your next interior design project.
Here are the text highlights:
P: JF Doesn’t like the crown going around the heating vents. I love the crown but I’m not enjoying it at all now.
M: I’m confused, I need a photo.
P: Is it bad looking around the vents? It will cost to lower each vent, then I’ll have to pay for the wall to be patched, then I’ll have to buy new crown and pay again for install.
M: Do it. You’ll be much happier in the end!
P: Crap
What I discovered later was that the crown molding was always in the plan and during this remodel P had the opportunity to install the venting properly. A qualified designer could have circumvented the headache and the expense involved in an error like the one illustrated above. Call a designer first and, truly, you will save money later.
