Have you every burned anything in the kitchen? If you answered yes then, perfect! Consider yourself experienced enough to roast a red pepper. Roasted red peppers add a ton of flavor to your dishes and they’re easy to prepare. You’re basically burning something on purpose. Start by washing the peppers and removing any stickers.
GAS FLAME OR GRILL
Place the whole pepper over a gas flame or on the grill and turn it with tongs until it’s evenly charred. You can do multiple peppers at a time.
BROILER
Place the whole pepper on the top rack of the broiler and continue to turn it every few minutes until it’s evenly charred. You can do multiple peppers at a time.
Next put it in a bowl covered with plastic wrap so it steams for about 10 minutes. Rub off the charred skin off with a paper towel, don’t use water as it will wash away the great flavor. Remove the seeds and veins and slice it for a salad, sandwich, or to flavor your favorite dish.
The produce departments of our D&W Fresh Markets are always stocked with an assortment of conventional and organic red peppers.
