Brewing your own sun tea is economical, easy, and a great project for kids! First, choose a container. It should be clear glass that’s easy to clean, about 1 gallon in size. Make sure you clean and sterilize it with boiling water before you start. Add purified water and tea bags, 1 bag for every 1 to 2 cups of water, use black tea, green tea or herbal tea and for added interest try combining different tea types and flavors.
Next, place the container in direct sunlight for 2 to 4 hours indoors by a window or outdoors. When the tea is done brewing, it should look colorful and strong. Discard the teabags and enjoy a refreshing summer tea over ice. Drink sugar-free or sweeten with honey or agave nectar. Add a slice of lemon for flavor and take in a beautiful summer day!
