Slow cookin’ for a FAST summertime breakfast
Old fashioned oatmeal

Most of us think of using our slow cooker for dinner, but they are a great tool for quick and healthy breakfasts too. From summertime kids’ sleepovers to holiday weekend house guests, let your slow cooker do the work while you sleep. Everyone will wake up to a home that smells delicious. Here is my favorite recipe for good old fashioned oatmeal. Click on the video player below to watch:

Old-Fashioned Oatmeal
(V/GF)
(Makes 5 servings)
Ingredients:
2 Cups Steel Cut Oats
5 C Milk, plant-based
½t Celtic Sea Salt
2T Smart Balance or Earth Balance
1t Each: Cinnamon, Clove, Allspice and Nutmeg
*People with wheat allergies may also be allergic to similar proteins found in oats. Click here for more information.
Directions:
Place all of the above in a 4 or 6.5 Qt. slow cooker. Program it on the “low” setting for 6-8 hours. There will be a slight crust around the edges of the cooker in the morning, this is normal. Serve warm with toppings like raisons, cut bananas, maple syrup, walnuts, ground flax seeds, blueberries, strawberries and protein powder.
