Great sadness, indeed!
One of my all time favorite restaurants is being forced to close its doors. I do not know why, only time will tell. For now, let’s focus on the unconditional LOVE that they serve up everyday; local, organic and vegan.
I’m so stinkin’ excited to finally be at THE original
Cafe Gratitude in the historic San Francisco Mission District.

Here’s how they roll:
Me: (Giggling because the ordering process is VERY, ah-hem…different) I am Dazzling (a.k.a. Caesar salad), I am Trusting (a.k.a. Mexican platter) and I am Pleased (a.k.a nut milk ice cream).
Server: OK, you are dazzling. You are trusting. And, you are pleased.
Then when the food arrives…
Server: (While placing your food in front of you, repeats…) You ARE dazzling! You ARE trusting! You ARE pleased!
Me: (My dazzling, trusting and pleased self is silent, devouring it all.)
And, in case you were wondering, it’s NOT just about the positive affirmations…the food is OUT OF THIS WOLRD!!! Goodness abounds at Gratitude.
I am Trusting A handmade corn tamal made with stone-ground heirloom masa and summer squash. Served with salsa verde, black beans and spicy Mexican coleslaw. $11.50 |
Refillable bottles of purified water are placed on your table, “infused” and labeled with wonderful things like: Love, Peace, and of course, Gratitude. Why not sip Love, drink Peace or guzzle Gratitude?
I AM Grateful to have the collection of Cafe Gratitude recipes in our kitchen and a never ending bottle of LOVE on our table. |
The Shade Shop, Inc.
That is sad indeed to see something so unique and special close and lock the door…de façon définitive. If you could only talk them into reopening in Grand Rapids…..we could use more dazzle, love and trust!!!!
