First, take time to assess what your family’s schedule is for the week, and plan your breakfasts, lunches and dinners accordingly. This is a great time to get the whole family involved so everyone gets a say in the menu. This is when I tell my family, “Speak now or forever hold your peace”!

Go through the necessary ingredients for each recipe thoroughly, so you are not wasting money buying items that you might already have, then note what you need on your shopping list.
Lastly, thinking ahead can save you money! For example, doubling the recipe for black beans on Monday night’s menu of black bean burritos will enable you to whip up a black bean soup, quickly and economically for lunch on Tuesday!
I like to keep our Reusable Weekly Meal Planner in a central spot of the kitchen so that everyone in the family knows what’s on the menu and also if I’m running late, whomever is home can help get a meal started.
