Some neighborhoods are super fun and get together for parties all-the-time. Like, the police close the streets down on the last day of school for a huge block party, or there are spur of the moment BBQs in the summer or there is a flow of progressive dinner parties planned throughout the fall and winter.
Our neighborhood is not one of these.
We may not be consistent with our parties, but we are efficient! Our neighborhood gets together only one time each year, and it’s for our annual Easter Egg Hunt, which took place this past Saturday. It all goes down in less than 44 minutes.
Kids love it and the adults have a chance to wish each other “Happy Spring” after a long winter hibernation. It works for us.
If we can pull this hunt together into about an hour of fun, so can you.
It’s extremely easy to organize:
Find a large open area in your neighborhood
Deliver invitations one week prior to event (enlist kids to deliver these)
One person organizes food & beverages (neighbors will
help)
One person organizes tables & decorations (neighbors will help)
One person acts as the Easter Bunny Liaison (neighbors will help)
Recycle eggs each year
Start at 9AM, eat breakfast, watch the action, chat with neighbors and before you know it you’ll be moving ahead with your day smiling with 44 minutes of pure fun behind you. Enjoy!
