DIY a batch of homemade pumpkin spice, then use it throughout the fall on just about everything. Making it in bulk is simple and economical. All you’ll need is a blender and cinnamon, ginger, allspice, nutmeg and cloves. Pulse, pulse, pulse. Then sprinkle on toast, oatmeal or apple slices, mix it into your coffee or smoothie, add it to granola or homemade protein bars. DIY Pumpkin Spice makes a great gift too!
DIY Pumpkin Spice
Makes 2/3 Cup
Ingredients:
6 tablespoons cinnamon, ground or 12 3″-4″ sticks
1 1/2 tablespoons ginger, ground
1 1/2 tablespoons nutmeg, ground or 3 whole nutmeg seeds
1 tablespoon all spice, ground or 1 1/2 tablespoons of whole allspice berries
1 tablespoon cloves, ground or 1 1/2 tablespoons of whole cloves
Preparation:
Place all ingredients in a high-speed blender and pulse until throughly combined. It will smell amazing! Store in a clean and dry container.
mTip: If you don’t have ground spices, a high-speed blender will be able to grind the whole dried spices for you.
