ROCK some homemade POPs! |
As Mother Nature turns up the heat, cool down with an ol’ fashioned summertime fave, homemade popsicles!
Click on the video player below for a 30 second segment on DIY popsicles:
1. Grab a mold: Before rushing out to buy commercial popsicle molds, get creative and use what you already have on hand: glasses, small condiment containers, ice cube trays, paper cups, or baking molds.
2. Fill with flavors & freeze: Fill them with flavorful combinations of: fruit juice, chopped fruit, berries, herbs, edible flowers, honey, agave nectar and plant-based milks like coconut milk for a creamy texture, then freeze.
3. Add the stick: Wait 30-60 minutes, then add the stick. The popsicle should be slushy enough to hold it up without any other extra support at this point.
More ideas: Freeze in different layers for a fun presentation and adults can make cocktail popsicles. Think margarita or red wine with cracked black pepper pops!
Homemade popsicles are much more economical and eco-friendly than buying them at the store with all of the disposable packaging and the best part is that YOU are in control of the ingredients.
We would love to see what kind of pops you have created. Photograph them, include your recipe and post them our WOTV 4 Women Facebook page.
